Recently, a major breakthrough has been made in the construction of Hubei Huanggang Qichun Qishui Irrigation Area Project undertaken by China Chemical Ecological Environment Company. The construction of Lianghekou Barrage, a control project in Qichun Qishui Irrigation Area Project, was completed and put into use on schedule. Before the flood season and the peak period of agricultural irrigation water, the "throat" of the irrigation area was successfully opened and the water supply operation stage was entered. The project received widespread attention from the central mainstream media. On May 6, the "News 30 Minutes" column of the Central Radio and Television Station focused on the theme of "While stepping up the prevention and control of the epidemic, the key projects should grasp the progress and rush for the construction period". The Qichun Qushui Irrigation District Project is the 150 major water conservancy project promoted by the state. It is included in the Comprehensive Planning of the Yangtze River Basin (2021-2030). The total investment of the project is 1.233 billion yuan. The planning and construction of the project includes a series of water conservancy and related supporting projects, such as water source project, new canal system expansion project, information construction, etc., with a designed irrigation area of 386700 mu.
The implementation of this project is a specific measure taken by ChemChina to deeply connect with the Yangtze River protection strategy and actively respond to the country's call to "accelerate the construction of major water conservancy projects". By strengthening the top-level design and rationally optimizing the allocation of water resources to achieve efficient utilization, it will systematically improve Regional irrigation water supply pattern. After the completion of the project, it will fundamentally solve the problems of local agricultural irrigation and water shortage in urban and rural life, improve the comprehensive grain production capacity of irrigation areas, give full play to regional irrigation benefits, increase farmers' income, and accurately help regional economic development, lay a solid foundation for consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation, and make important contributions to the implementation of the local rural revitalization strategy.
The Lianghekou barrage is a key node in the construction of the Qichun Qishui irrigation area project, which undertakes the important task of ensuring water supply during the irrigation period and safety during the flood period. In order to ensure the normal water use for irrigation in the irrigation area, the construction task of this project section must be completed in a dry season and have the conditions for retaining and storing water. The construction period is short, the implementation process is many, the construction task is heavy, and the coordination is difficult. Since the start of construction in October 2021, the project implementation team has overcome many difficulties such as the epidemic, seized the golden period of water conservancy construction last winter and this spring, overcome difficulties, forge ahead, scientific scheduling, and fine management. Under the premise of grasping epidemic prevention and control and safe production, the project construction climax was quickly set off and the phased construction tasks were successfully completed.
